In essence, we know a well-executed school from a simply well-intentioned one, know the ingredients that make it successful, and guide promising leaders through the recipe.
Linda Brown is the Founder and CEO of Building Excellent Schools. From the organization’s inception in 1993, Linda’s advocacy and tireless work has been critical to the initial and sustained success of over 75 BES schools across the country, including multiple charter schools that have earned national recognition due to outstanding student achievement results. Linda conceptualizes, concretizes, and executes the strategic vision for BES. This vision has profoundly improved the lives of tens of thousands of children by providing access to high-performing, college-preparatory schools. Linda was inducted into the Public Charter Schools Hall of Fame in recognition of her work as a seminal education reform pioneer. Before founding Building Excellent Schools, Linda was Associate Head of School at an independent school in Massachusetts. She received a B.A. in English from Boston University.
